Harder and more complicate than i originally thought.

Phew, the amount of wire here is truly depressing, but it has started, the great journey of replacing all the wire in underway, i figure if i move from the dash to the motor and then to the rear, it is going to make life a little easier, i have already replaced what i can in the mean time, but it is better to do it in the vehicle i think, this way i can measure out exact lengths and lug them to the point of contact at the same time.

Also i want to re route the wiring as far away from the motor as possible with a 9degree bend directly to its final point of contact, i will let you know haw this goes.

So far so good.

Any tips from anyone out there, please feel free to let me know, your thoughts.

Stripping all electrics

I can not believe just how much extra wiring was in this vehicle, i mean really, what the heck man, i understand that you add lights or so on during the life of the vehicle but i really do not get how so much wire was left behind.

Anyway, i started at the front, removed wire for wire and tagged each one, finally got to the firewall and then had to feed that through and pull everything out with the dash board. what a job, in total it took me about two hours, but now the fun part starts, replacing every wire with new and each and every lug. it is my objective to rewire in such a way that when Colleen and i start the world trip in January 2013 the wiring will be very simple to work on should the need arise.

I have included some pics of the vehicle before and after. will add new ones once the wiring is back. such a simple vehicle, i really do not understand all the extra stuff.

Pretty shocking all that wire and nothing to do.

The engine compartment was also spiderweb like, i am amazed nothing got burned.

Also the engine before a little bit of a clean

Trying to make head or tail of some of this wire.

The dash completely removed and lying on the floor next to the vehicle.

The engine compartment minus all the wire and all the dirt
